Variations and Proportions

Basic Algebra Review Part 9: Variations and Proportions (Tagalog)

Direct Variation
y is directly proportional to x or y varies directly as x:
$y = kx$

Inverse Variation
y is inversely proportional to x or y varies inversely with x:
$y = \dfrac{k}{x}$

Joint Variation
y is directly proportional to x and z:
$y = kxz$

Variation to nth power of x and mth power of z
y is directly proportional to the square of x and varies inversely to the cube of z.
$y = \dfrac{kx^2}{z^3}$
