how would you know if a truss has a horizontal reaction at support ?

  1. There is a horizontal load or at least a horizontal component of a load.
  2. For cantilever trusses, the rotation due to loads are resisted by horizontal reactions.

In FBD 01, why is it that BC is not included in finding CF?

Because we did the summation of Moment on joint C making the value of the vertical distance of BC 0 (zero)

i stand corrected. Membrane BC didn't intersect with our section line which makes it outcast on the equation.

The reason it is not included because the section method is used. The section passed the members BD, CD, and CF so BC will not be included. The left side of the truss is considered for the solution.
